The Tulip Garden in Srinagar, also known as Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, is located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range in the Siraj Bagh area of Srinagar. It is close to three prominent attractions such as Dal Lake, Nishat Bagh, and Chashma Shahi Garden, making it an ideal attraction to visit for tourists.

Earlier called Model Floriculture Centre, it was opened for public in 2007 to boost tourism and floriculture in the Kashmir Valley. More than 60 varieties of tulips numbering over a few lakh can be seen, along with many other species of daffodils, hyacinths and ranunculus.

The tulip garden which is in Srinagar is commonly known as Siraj Bagh and is located on the banks of the famous Dal Lake.

Spread over an area of approximately 15 hectares, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar was first opened for visitors in 2008. It was built during the term of chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Commonly known as 'Siraj Bagh', the enchanting tulip garden houses different and unique varieties of tulips.

Tulips originated in Central Asia, and were first cultivated in Iran (Persia) as early as the 10th century. Many historical sources have evidence of how tulips came to Europe over the centuries. By the 16th century, tulips were being cultivated in the Ottoman Empire.

It was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir state Ghulam Nabi Azad in 2007 the tulip garden was built to promote tourism and floriculture in Kashmir valley. This seven terraced garden will be having a water channel and more green areas to let the visitors relish their best memories in garden.

More than 3.65 lakh visitors, both domestic and foreign, visited the garden last year, while it witnessed a footfall of 3.60 lakh people in 2022. This year, the floriculture department added five new varieties of tulips to the existing 68.

The tulip garden is a must visit place in Srinagar. It opens for about a month, from March to April. Tulips of all colors are lined up in symmetric rows, making it a beautiful sight! There is a fairly long walk from the car park to the entrance gate, but wheelchairs are available for senior citizens.

Keukenhof park is southwest of Amsterdam in the heart of “bulb country”, and it contains millions of tulips of every colour and other flowers across 32 hectares.

Tulip season runs from the end of March until mid May, but the flowers are usually at their best halfway through April. More than 7 million flower bulbs bloom in spring at the Keukenhof in Lisse. It is one of the best places to discover many different kinds of tulips.

The tulip garden, Asia's biggest, had attracted 3.65 lakh visitors last year. Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, formerly known as Siraj Bagh, is gearing up to welcome visitors this weekend, showcasing a vibrant array of colors.
