Okay, I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself – you’re probably wondering “Karli, what is ocean water at Sonic.” Well, I’m delighted to be the one to tell you. ‘Ocean water’ is a mixture of blue coconutty deliciousness combined with our old favorite, sprite. And let me tell you – it’s a must for your pool-side Stanley this season. But only if you’re adding in some iconic pebble ice, too.
What is Ocean Water made of?
Sprite or 7UP, chilled – Any lemon/lime soda will do here.
Torani coconut syrup– If you don’t have Torani syrup, you can use coconut extract (1 tbsp) and a simple syrup (1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup granulated sugar, microwaved until the sugar has dissolved and then cooled) in its place. However, Torani syrup is so much easier and it’s delish! I love that they have a sugar free option, too.
Blue food coloring – This obviously doesn’t impact flavor, but it does impact the fun! Feel free to leave the food coloring out if you’d like.
Maraschino cherries – These are also optional, but again, fun.
Sonic pebble ice – A must, in my opinion – this is the pellet ice maker that I have and love!
How to make Ocean Water (Sonic Copycat)
Single Serving:
To make an individual glass of ocean water, fill your cup up with ice and pour the lemon lime soda over the ice.
Add 1-2 tbsp of the coconut syrup.
Add one drop of blue food coloring (if desired) and stir to combine.
Top with a maraschino cherry, if desired. Enjoy!
Ocean Water for a Group:
To make a large pitcher for a party, add the chilled lemon lime soda to the drink dispenser.
Add the Torani coconut syrup and a few drops of blue food coloring, stir to combine.
Add the ice and a few maraschino cherries to the drink dispenser, enjoy!
