I tried them and tried them and tried them some more. And I was just about ready to go and get Dominic to photo the process of making air fryer baked oatmeal with Bob’s Gluten Free Rolled Oats and then I noticed a problem.

What I thought was another batch of rolled oats was Bobs Red Mill Quick Oats. I had never used them before, and it felt like I was starting again from scratch.

I searchedGoogle and I searched Pinterest and found that there was a serious lack ofinformation about quick oats and many recipes recommended that you didn’t usethem!

I meanwhat was I going to do about it?

Ilearnt that quick oats, was just that, gluten free rolled oats that are cut smaller, meaning that they cook quicker and what I soon realised is that I could makeyou guys a great recipe for air fryerbaked oatmeal with quick oats andthey would save you even more cooking time.

So todays recipe is more a tutorial and recipe into air fryer baked oatmeal, so that I can give you an incredible knowledge of baked oatmeal and you can go away being an expert at it yourself.

What Is BakedOatmeal?

The first question that you are probably dying to know, iswhat is baked oatmeal? I had no idea when I started out on my baked oatmeal journey,so if that is YOU then here is the scoop.

The best way to describe what is baked oatmeal is to imagine it as baked porridge. Normally you would cook porridge in a pan and stir it all the time.

Yet with baked oatmeal you load your ingredients into a bowl, just like you would do with overnight oats and then it bakes.

Or if you live in the UK you will know baked oatmeal asbaked oats, or in Australia as baked porridge.

What Does BakedOatmeal Taste Like?

Baked oatmeal tastes like porridge. It has a warm porridge like texture in the centre, with a crust on the outside.

When you dip your fork into your baked oatmeal it will feel soft and tender but cooked.

Baked Oatmeal is also flavoured, depending on which flavour you have gone with. The most popular is blueberry and banana oatmeal but there is plenty of other variations.

What To Eat WithBaked Oatmeal?

I like to have my air fryer baked oatmeal as it is in a little ramekin, but if you want to expand on it, I recommend fruit and yoghurt.

You can add some Greek Yoghurt on top as well as some sliced fruit.

Is Baked OatmealHealthy?

I am sure you have a million questions of if it is healthyand if it suits your diet or not and I can assure you that our baked oatmeal ishealthy.

Recipe This | Air Fryer Baked Oatmeal (4)

Firstly, it is made with healthy gluten free quick oats from Bob’s Red Mill.

Then it is loaded with fruit, eggs, dairy and your choice of sugar. You can in fact make it healthier or unhealthy depending on what you like.

For example, many add butter to their baked oatmeal and refinedsugars, things that we do not add here. Others might use lower quality oats tothe Bobs Red Mill oats we’re using.

Because we’re using Bob’s Red Mill, we have kept it gluten free and you can easily swap the milk and Greek yoghurt for a dairy free alternative.

If you do the swap you can also make our air fryer baked oatmeal Paleo.

Our air fryer baked oatmeal is also excellent for ahealthy diet because it is free of:

  • Baking Powder
  • Butter
  • Oil
  • Flour
  • Added Sugar

It is also perfect for toddlers, so much so that Jorge keepsstealing it from me and keeps telling me it is his! So now I have learnt tomake double so that Jorge can have some!

Baked Oatmeal Ramekin

I decided that because I was going to be making my baked oatmeal in the air fryer, that the BEST way of doing so, would be to make baked oatmeal in ramekins.

You can then have your baked oatmeal as cups, and they are perfect for baked oatmeal for one.

Or if you are feeding four of you, for example, you could doa ramekin for each of you. Or use this as an opportunity to mix and match.

Let’s say your daughter hates berries and just wants bananain her baked oatmeal, or your son loves extra berries, then you can mix and matchso that everyone is happy.

Baked OatmealFor Breakfast

So now that I have explained baked oatmeal to you, let me show you how to make baked oatmeal for breakfast with the help of the air fryer.

Firstly, it is all about having your ingredients ready sothat you can quickly put it together and cook your air fryer baked oatmeal.

The main baked oatmeal ingredients are:

Above are the 6 baked oatmeal ingredients. Though aspecial mention goes to the following:

  • The Greek yoghurt is used as a creamer to keep your baked oats creamy and is the alternative to using butter. The Greek yoghurt can also be replaced with a dairy free alternative too.
  • The banana and the egg work together to bind it all so that you have a lovely baked oatmeal texture once cooked.
  • The natural sugars. We all have our favourites, don’t we? For me living in Portugal it must be honey. But you might prefer stevia, brown sugar, maple syrup or something else.

Once you have the main ingredients for your bakedoatmeal, it’s a case of deciding what baked oatmeal ideas would suit yourtaste. This might be:

  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Apple
  • Peach
  • Chocolate Chip

Though when we tested our air fryer baked oatmeal out,we went with a banana version, a raspberry version, a blueberry version and a fruitof the forest version. Though our favourite was the blueberry.

How To MakeBaked Oatmeal In The Air Fryer?

Recipe This | Air Fryer Baked Oatmeal (6)

Baked oatmeal is made in one bowl, before beingtransferred to either ramekins, mugs or cups for baking in the air fryer. Italso keeps washing up to a minimum.

There is not much to making air fryer baked oatmeal and it’s a case of throwing the ingredients into a bowl and mixing with a fork.

Perfect for when you want baked oatmeal for breakfast and want a hassle free, yet healthy start to the day.

For texture, imagine you are making pancakes for breakfast. Look for that type of slightly thick batter and you have it mastered.

And remember you can mix and match depending on what fruit is in season.

One of the best benefits of me being a food blogger is learning about new foods, that would otherwise have passed me by.

I doubt I would have heard of baked oatmeal otherwise.

Well I have to say I love everything about baked oatmeal. Even better to have a baked breakfast that takes just 8 minutes to cook and just 2 minutes to prep.

You could put it on before you go in the shower and have it ready when you come out. Talk about getting organised in the morning!

I just want to eat air fryer baked oatmeal all the time and I can now say it is my favourite air fryer breakfast.

Notes

The air fryer baked oatmeal does get very hot in the middle, so allow to cool for a little before eating.

I have included 3 different extra ingredient options and just choose one type for each ramekin you are filling. You can also use blueberry powder if blueberries are not in season where you are.

You can use the recipe above that makes 4 ramekins and make them in a baking dish in the air fryer oven instead.

If using rolled oats then adjust the time to 12 minutes.
