Since it first premiered in 2016, Japanese superhero anime My Hero Academia has established itself as a worldwide phenomenon.

Adapted from Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga series of the same name, the show takes place in a world where 80% of the population is born with superpowers called “Quirks,” which manifest by the age of four. Though Izuku Midoriya (Daiki Yamash*ta) was born Quirkless, he is chosen by his lifelong idol, the world’s top Hero, All Might (Kenta Miyake), to become the successor to All Might’s own inherited Quirk, “One For All.” Izuku then enrolls in U.A. High School, one of the world’s top academies for wannabe Heroes, so that he can harness his powers and carry on All Might’s legacy to help save the world.

As the series has progressed, many brutal and fascinating Villains, led by All Might’s arch-nemesis All For One (Akio Ōtsuka) and his apprentice, Tomura Shigaraki (Kōki Uchiyama), enter the fray with their own agendas and nefarious plans. It is up to Izuku, his classmates and teachers, and professional Heroes to stop the Villains and save society and the world as they know it from their ruthless opposition.

While My Hero Academia fans have certainly seen a lot over the past six seasons, they’re sure to be more locked in than ever as the show ramps up towards its last big arc consisting not only of an epic war between Heroes and Villains, but also of the further exploration into what makes someone a Hero or Villain and if redemption is possible for those dubbed the latter.
