My Answer Billy Graham Dear Dr. Graham: I recently got something in the mail advertising a correspondence course teaching you how to master your mind. It stresses things like meditation, hypnotism, being able to control spiritual forces, astrology, etc. I am very interested, but do you think these things are legitimate and right? Dear D.A.: I sincerely hope you will not pursue this. I do not know the details of this course, but at least some of the things you mention could very easily get you involved in occult practices that are not only wrong but ultimately very harmful.
The Bible repeatedly warns us against getting involved in occult practices (even when they seem harmless or entertaining on the surface) because they can be involved in evil or demonic spiritual forces. I am curious, however, why this has apparently attracted you. There may be various reasons for your interest. For example, you may be fearful of the future and hope shomehow that you can control it or at least prepare for it. Or you may like the idea of having powers that other people do not have.
Or perhaps there are things in your life that you feel unable to change and you hope somehow a program like this can help you get on top of your problems.
